Location: Laxenburg, Austria Source: The long-term aim of IIASA’s Program on Risk
and Vulnerability (RAV)
is to conduct conceptual and applied analyses that contribute to
decreasing the risk and vulnerability of societies and ecosystems, and
promoting their adaptation and resilience, to stresses imposed or
aggravated by global change phenomena.
The Program is
seeking to recruit a Research Assistant to start as soon as possible,
for a period of one year. The focus of the research will be on the
sustainability and risks associated with renewable energy development
in North Africa.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Conducts conceptual and applied research
- Assists with literature searches, development of presentations, data collection and workshop planning
- Participates actively in internal/external meetings, including developing agendas and preparing written summaries
- Conducts interviews and other fieldwork in Europe and North Africa
Qualifications and experience
- Training in economic geography, risk analysis and empirical research methods
- An advanced degree (PhD or equivalent) desirable
- Fluent English
- Proficiency in French advantageous
- Proven ability to work within an international team with colleagues from diverse backgrounds
- Solid organizational and priority setting skills
- Ability to carry out research independently with a minimum amount of supervision
