The 2008 PhD Summer School on Earth System Governance aims to help students to better understand the causes of global change in an integrated manner and at the same time to develop options for the governance of a transition to more sustainable development paths at the national and global levels. It brings together insights from the modeling, integrated assessment, and sustainability science communities and from the social science, governance-oriented research communities.
We will cover the basic costs of the summer school for all participants, including a travel subsidy for non-Dutch participants, accommodation, lunch, tea and coffee, the teaching materials and a number of social events. The admission fee is EUR150 for European participants and EUR100 for non-European participants.
In addition to participating in the lectures and class discussions, a number of students have the opportunity to present their current research to a group of distinguished experts for intense discussion. If you want your work to be discussed in a PhD masterclass, please attach an abstract of your paper to the application material.
